Your private basement apartment is located in a charming midcentury craftsman in a fantastic location - just 1 block from beautiful Greenlake & 12 minutes from downtown. NOTE 1. The range (oven/stove) does not work, but there is a stove and a hotplate so that you may cook 2. There is no bedroom door, though the apartment itself has a door. There is just no bedroom door on the bedroom leading out to the living room. 3. The bathroom has an accordion door. 4. Laundry is not for guest use. The space You'll have your own private entrance to a 1-bedroom apartment ! You'll have one bedroom with a comfy queen bed and the living area has a futon for one, with space for a folding twin memory foam mattress for another guest as well. PLEASE NOTE: The stove/oven in the kitchen is non-functioning. Sorry for the inconvenience! There's a microwave, fridge, coffee pot, hot plate, and toaster oven for your use, as well as some basic kitchen supplies. Some ceiling areas of this apartment are bit a lower. There is an air duct dividing the kitchen and living area that you will need to duck for if you're 5'8" or taller -- don't bonk your noggin'! The staircase leading to the apartment is steep and not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. There is no door to the bedroom. Of course the apartment does have a door and offers completely privacy. The bathroom door is an accordion style door (since there would be no space to install a conventional door!) The laundry room is not for guest use. Guest access The entire basement apartment (except for the laundry room) is yours to occupy. The neighborhood Green Lake, nestled just north of Downtown Seattle, is a thriving neighborhood, aptly named for the freshwater lake it surrounds. Bordered by Phinney Ridge on the west, Maple Leaf on the east, Northgate on the north, and Fremont and Wallingford to the south, the area is within walking distance of many other Seattle neighborhoods. The neighborhood is a short drive or bus ride from downtown and there is plentiful on-street parking. The neighborhood itself is small and rated high on the walkability scale. The main attraction of this neighborhood is Green Lake itself. Named for the algae blooms that frequent the waters and turn it a shade of emerald, the lake is just 259 acres on the surface and 30 feet deep at its lowest point. A 2.8 mile walking path follows the perimeter of the lake, and the neighborhood is known for the abundance of walkers, joggers and bicyclists constantly circling the water. The lake itself is packed with swimmers in the summer, and paddle boats and kayaks skim the surface year round. There is a very large public park that surrounds Green Lake, complete with tennis courts, playgrounds, soccer fields and a children's wading pool. On a nice day hundreds of people fill every square inch of grass along the park. But, even if the skies are cloudy and grey, you'll be sure to find a few brave souls reading on a blanket or enjoying cup of coffee on a bench, somewhere in the park. Walking distance to the house there are plenty of great restaurants and coffee shops. Some of our favorites are Chocolati for yummy hot chocolate and delicious truffles. We also frequent Lunchbox Lab. Especially during the winter for their $5 happy hour (dinner) menu -you can't beat that! Another one of our usual spots is Duke's Seafood & Chowder House. Seriously yummy seafood, and it's all sustainably sourced! Apparently, their chowder is award winning too! PCC is a local grocery store and there are two within walking distance to the house should you need any snacks. There are many more --happy exploring! Other things to note You will also definitely be able to hear us walking around and living up stairs. If you're sensitive to noise this creaky old house will do you no favors. You've been warned. =D Quiet hours are after 10PM.
